Yes, in the past, I have removed and re-installed 1,000’s of asbestos-containing siding shingles for the purpose of installing blown insulation.
Yes, I think it’s harmful in very high daily doses over years and years…as that has been the history of the diseases.
No where did I say workers removing asbestos shingles should not wear protective masks and coveralls, not use water and vacuums to control/capture the few asbestos fibers that may be released in careful asbestos shingle/siding removal.
Do you live and work in Edmonton? If so and you are afraid of asbestos exposure, I would wear a proper mask at all times!! As Stephen Reut has said and I calculated, even out fishing, you may inhale to up to 365,000 asbestos fibers per year.
