I am considering this drone, any feedback?

To use a drone for a commercial business (such as home inspector, professional photographer etc) requires an FAA license.

Which is total BS when it comes to any kind of roof inspections or photography that would no where inhibit airspace or “endanger” the general public. I understand the reasoning in highly populated areas and near airports and so forth, but they should have it limited to certain areas and/or allow waivers in rural regions with limitations.

I ordered two at $67 each. I have no doubt that I’ll get what I paid for but it may be good for awhile at least. We’ll see.

Let us know. David…

One is for my son for Christmas and since I don’t do many inspections it may take longer to wear out than it would if I used it regularly. I’ll try to keep up with the statistics.

Agreed. If I were in a rural area, I would not worry about it. People are much more laid back and more likely to mind their own business. In my area, there is no doubt some busy body know it all would be calling the “authorities” on me.

Weight has nothing to do with anything. Only applies to recreational flying.

Not sure who made the better decision, you or Martin. I look forward to one or the other some day.

Lol! Mountains or the beach. Love them both but we don’t get too many hurricanes up here.

I grew up near the ocean, breathing the salt water air. Then I moved away and lived near the mountains for 28 years, breathing the mountain air. Now we moved and living near the ocean, breathing the salt water air. You have to mix it up a little, Thomas. :grinning:

Junior, you’re living the life I that can only dream of at this point. Maybe some day…but those days aren’t many.

The mavic mini is great for inspections. The only downside is it will get moved around a bit in the wind. Takes great pictures and doesn’t alert the whole area to a drone in the air due to it’s small size and low noise output.

My only complaint is that for some reason it has trouble working with my current phone. I have tried everything to solve it to no avail and getting any real support from DJI is impossible. Their only advice was uninstall and reinstall app, update drivers, turn off/on, etc. If that don’t work, send it in. Now I use it with my daughters old retired phone and it works perfectly. To be fair, it is probably the phone messing things up, not the drone.

I am leaning that direction. If things slow down a bit, I am going to pick up where I left off. Thanks for the input.

@ruecker

I found this black Friday deal. Is this similar to yours?

I have the original (Mini 1). The 2 is said to have some new features or something. I did buy the fly more combo as well. It’s nice having the extra batteries, but truthfully I have never needed more than one battery at an inspection. But the batteries can go bad I suppose over time so never hurts to have extra. I bought a different case for mine because I fly with the guards on and wanted to store it that way. The case that comes with you have to take the guards off to store it.

I do not think the mini has obstacle avoidance. I could be wrong, has this been an issue for you?

It does not have obstacle avoidance. The only sensor it has is on the belly. It will not make collision underneath unless you are telling it to land. I’ve bumped a few things but it does not get squirrely or anything. It just bounces off and stabilizes itself.

Just stay away from the Florida panhandle or Gulf. The SC coast is beautiful and is spared from most hurricanes :crossed_fingers:
