So, for those that were asking about my decision. Thanks to some great feedback from members here and a decent black Friday deal, I went with this Drone. I’ll let you all know how it goes once I learn how to fly it.
I think you will be happy with your choice. I was out practicing today with my 5 year old daughter and she too had so much fun flying it and did it pretty easily.
Even though most of what you’d learn you would never need to know, I actually really enjoyed learning the material. A big chunk of it is learning how to read aeronautical maps and these coded weather reports. It’s kinda fun. I just watched a couple of these Part 107 test prep YouTube videos… about 5 times each, and I passed the test the first time.
We’ve been using a Mavic Mini, Mavic Pro 2, Mavic Pro Zoom and an EXO Blackhawk.
The only problem I have with the DJI drones, any of them, is the geofencing. I don’t think I should have to get permission from DJI to fly my drone in airspace that I’ve already received clearance in from the real governing bodies. We are looking into software to break the geofencing but in the future we will probably invest in an Autel or Skydio.
I have not even cracked the book on getting my FAA licensing. Atlanta has a couple big airports in the downtown area where I do a good bit of work. This will be interesting.
