All are missing the point. The IRC calls out for schedule 40 pipe.
The Tiger Brand that Mike posted has an approved ICC report on it,
But is still 11 gauge.
So the IRC and the ICC don’t match.
Is the IRC wrong as written or are we all to use our own discretion and just use the 3" and rust inhibitive protection inside and out?
That is my question.
I have called out a lot of tele-post, but it was common sense at that point.

I understand what you are asking Marcel, just don’t have the exact answer. Using our own discretion is probably the most accurate.
IMO if a post is providing adequate structural support is up to an engineer to determine.

Not if they’re installed wrong like they are in your pictures. They’re supposed to be flipped over with a screw at the base. This should be installed before the concrete floor. And then when the concrete floor is poured it should encompass the screwing part of the post. Only then is it allowed as a permanent install.
