I had a long meeting with Alberta government on Friday regarding our course approval.

There is a little secret advantage to having other inspectors offer the proctoring at fewer locations and times: It brings inspectors together.

I really do like the fellowship that comes with the meeting and other courses that I have taken. I went to the Red Deer meeting in June and found it very interesting and I learned alot. I also turned down 3 inspections, got a hotel for two nights, add in food and gas and it cost me $650.00 plus the three inspections @ 400.00. Not sure it was worth that kind of money. That is why I want to write my exams here instead of travelling.

The Red Deer meeting was a good get together for sure, plus have always liked Red Deer, or as Don Cherry calls it , Red River.

Talk to yur local school teacher I’m sure you can arrange something with one of them. They will know what it’s all about. Since the exam is on line all you need is a internet connection. Even the professor can not object to that.!

Excellent point.

What exam, the entrance exam for Inachi?

At the meeting in Edmonton between the NHICC and the guys trying to implement this program fairly and effectively, with enough rigour and integrity so it can not be readily challenged, a concern was raised regarding availability of suitable exam proctors in outlying areas of Alberta .

The NHICC has always insisted that teh integrity of all eams should be protected by having proctors, hopefully neutral and objective.

One of the NHICC Directors has done a little checking and it seems that the Safety Codes Council, which trains, tests and qualifies the building safety codes officers responsible for administering the Alberta Building Code (and other disciplines) has a simple guideline for obtaining an exam proctor.

There is now a list of available locations for exams from the Alberta Construction Safety Association where various safety officials are trained, tested and certified.
Libraries throughout Alberta often proctor exams particularly in rural areas.
Finally Alberta Community Colleges could also proctor required exams.

In conclusion I believe there are a number of acceptable facilities throughout Alberta for potential home inspectors to take proctored exams without undue hardship.

I think if NACHI offers its training program for free to members wishing to be licensed, as it will, it can do so in a manner to allow CMI’s the opportunity to collect the proctoring fee that a local college or other institution would charge for the same service.

It seems appropriate and the right thing to do.

Another great way to promote the association and the CMI designation, IMO.

One other thought is to verify problems with the way the inspector understands the ? Sometimes they may not understand what is being asked and need help. Will a proctor individual know what to do if he is not a HI. I think naught.:frowning:
This could cost him his first try at CCHI and that is not good for the organization.

Well said thanks to Both Kevin and James .
Strange how all come to nachi to get there point across and never give any support to NACHI or the NACHI members .
NACHI does all out in the open for al and the other secret self apointed group gives very liitle info to NACHI .

Strange how you (who knows more than all) does not understand why Nick runs this website in this manner and doesn’t complain about it like yourself!! When you figure it out, send me a PM!!

Brianiac

You are contradicting yourself again. We know why Nick lets you post. Whether your realize it or not you are the show.

Strange how Harry doesn’t criticize you for always complaining, and about being short on facts.

Like I said the only true complainer here is you, but your too thick to comprehend the reasons.

You top the list (next to Larson) when it comes to someone who constantly needs to demonstrate what they think is intelligence.

As your wife would likely tell ya at the end of the day, “Brian, shut up and go to sleep, I need to be well rested for you to start all over again tomorrow”!

I’m talking about all proctored exams for HI’s in remote areas that do not have access to CMI’s.

 • meant to say, what exam are we going to take through Inachi. Is the exam the same one we took when we joined?

They haven’t decided yet.

Well! Well!

Jekyll, or is it Hyde, back again?? Jealousy raises its teeny head again!

Why won’t you finally take ownership of your posts to my Public Profile under various aliases (now crossed out) as you were being thrown out of here?

PS: You used the name of a good friend of Nick’s as an alias then!!! How he even talks to you today is surprising but…as always…you do what you do to get ahead!!

BTW, the deleted message on my Public Profile by Roy Cooke was:

We need More like Brian who tell it like it is , He also has the knowledge to go with his post,s

Thanks, Kevin!

Haven’t heard much 13 year old school yard humour for a week or so…you’re talking to Roy and Ray too much…it’s showing!!! SAD!! SAD!! SAD!!

That one exam you took when you joined was an entrance exam that tested you for your ability to become an inspector if you completed the rest of the training program.

It would more then likely be a proctored exam for each of the 15 to 18 exams for the 15 to 18 courses that we have recommended on several occasions to the government because that is what we believe you need to become a qualified house inspector.
The real problem is the government does not know or understand very much about what we do and how we do it, thus the cocked up regulations and the indecision as to who has adequate training courses.
I also wonder if they do not understand or maybe they do not want to understand and are just screwing us around.

Haven’t you been working closely with these folks for 2-3 years now? What’s the communication problem?

Inspect4U (curriculum based on InterNACHI’s courses) should have the approval very soon.
