I need an alligator tail

A little off-topic for inspection but not for Florida.
The bigger the tail the better. I really only need the bones, but prefer they still be connected with cartilage. Will pay shipping and finders fee. Call for details:

That will be tough. What will you be using it for. The State may be able to help if for educational reasons. I could get you one easily but if caught would get locked up :frowning:

How about a road kill is a dead alligator protected .

I understand they hunt them in Louisiana
Alligator season in Louisiana begins on the first Wednesday in September and lasts for 30 days. In this time, many of the alligator hunters, following a tradition dating back about 300 years, earn most of their yearly income in a high risk vocation dependent on experience and the whims of weather within strict regulation by wildlife laws. Hunters are each issued a certain number of tags that must be attached to their kills; once they “tag out” (run out of tags), their season is over, and they may no longer kill any more alligators for the rest of the season. During this 30-day window, some of these hunters earn most of their annual income culling alligators; therefore, the ultimate goal for the alligator hunters is to tag out before the season ends. Most of the hunters spend the rest of the year harvesting other species (fish, crawfish, shrimp, crabs, raccoons, turtles, etc.) to augment their yearly incomes and/or holding down full-time jobs in other industries.
Each season, the series focuses on various teams of alligator hunters. Some episodes also feature other aspects of the social and sporting life of the swamp, including fishing and hunting for other animals.

There are plenty of Horse a*sses around here wouldn’t that work?

What you doing gettin’ ready for Día de Muertos.
It’s just around the corner.

Mike, I have an ostrich skeleton that I want to turn into something else. It has a pelican skull on it in this photo but I’ll be installing a coyote skull, and with a longer tail I’ll be able to lie convincingly about what it is. I’m thinking of calling it a “Tyranoraptor.”.

I’ll be in Melbourne, Florida for Inspector Fuel Nov. 10-12, and I can make a side trip if necessary.

Thanks Roy, I’ll wait if I need to but I thought since I’ll be in Florida anyway, I might as well give this a shot.

I’m already making calls

An alligator head may look cool on that as well. One hell of a beast

And I was thinking you were designing a Trump figurine. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wish you would have posted this a few weeks ago. I was down in Florida for the National Gator Wrestling Tournament. I came in second place.

I do not even think I have to check snoops on that one.
Chicago guys and Alligators, hmmmmmmmmmmm

Kenton,

Cross them fingers and hope. the guy i said I was going to call i did but had to leave a message. Good news is: His mom said wish him luck when I asked her for the number because he wants to go Gator Hunting THIS WEEKEND. This could work our Perfectly. Look at the skeleton diagrams from earlier and see if you may want any other bones.

I just talked to the guy he is in West Palm Beach. He may not go this weekend but tag is good for a bit. He also thinks processors may even give ith to you. He says it is more cartalidgelike than bone in most spots. It he gets one you get the bones and I get a bag of meat  I still think try to hit local melbourne or closest to for easy size selection and guaranteed results. Keep me in the loop. Too Bad it could not be done by Halloween :D:twisted:

It would have to be a pretty small head Mike, those neck vertebrae are pretty small. There’s 18 of them, but not too big around.

A good thing about an alligator skull is that the spinal cord comes out of the back of the skull, which would be more natural for this. With the coyote skull the spinal cord emerges more from the bottom of the skull.

The problem with a gator skull is it’s easy to recognize, and I want to fool people.

I spoke with a processor in Melbourne today and he sounded optimistic, but we’ll see if he gets back to me.

The only alternative I can think of is a kangaroo tail. Alligator is tough enough to find!

Kenton do You really think this is the proper venue to go in search of tail ???

I was thinking you could likely swing a deal with a guy if you enjoy doing the work. I think it would be really cool for a processor to have a small tabletop re-articulated gator for display when you walked in. Another advantage is you could likely give the exact length you want for your project so you do not have to settle. Measure it to exactly where you want it to fit and tell them to shoot for that. I think you will be here at the perfect time to achieve your goal but I would call people NOW so you can put in an order so if one comes in your exact size you want they will hold it for you. What is the proper name for putting together a skeleton again, I forgot already  Let me know how I can help if needed and if my Cuz gets one then it is yours for free. Have fun and post the pictures. Maybe we will see you on the T.V. show oddities with Wednesday. Kind of hot chick for the goth look
