I agree with Joe B. A simple stand alone Wind mitigation bill would fly thru without even stopping due to the insurance crisis created by the Florida legislature meddling over the last several years. They created Citizens but didn’t do a good job of controlling it. That having been said, they now find they HAVE to do something. This current bill is beginning to look like Hungarian Stew and it hasn’t even had the benefit of being massaged to death by all the special interests. Remember last year and the year before; the bills were changing by the minute and became such a convoluted POC no one could embrace it, even the ones who started it. Having the legislature write a HI bill is like asking the neighbor’s 11 year old kid to tune the carburetors on your new Porche. They don’t know jack about HI, mold or Wind mitigation or what is really needed.
Joe hit it the nail on the head. The participants of the coalition have gone dark with any communication with NACHI. I have received emails from a key coalition member who was upset that I implicated his association as the org that pushed the latest bill. I gave him the opportunity to refute the allegation. Thus far, no response. Therefore it must be the truth.
