Mike,
You're better off getting this book "New". I just purchased one myself and it will definitely pay for itself. I purchased the HRB-Technical Reference Guide (not Prestons). You'll always be able to inform your client how old the unit is. This vital information that you supply your client will save you from hassles/callbacks down the road when they complain that you never told them that the furnace was 30 years old.

Matthew,
Can't seem to find any www references to: the HRB-Technical Reference Guide.
Can you give a pointer as to where to find it and maybe even to see some samples of it's pages?

I know mike
but seeing as didn't read what I wrote I should be OK
seriously though all the stuff on CD rom is twice the price of the books with 10% of the manufacturing costs, I am tired of paying through the nose for resourses that i mostly use to help others.

Mike,
I've been using this for several weeks now and I've found everything I needed as far as age goes on heating units. This guide also tells you what manufacturers are now out of business, and who merged with what company. If a maker is out of business, it's good to let your client know that parts may be hard to get.
