Information on failed ductwork in a slab

Does anyone have any good information on failed ductwork in a slab with sand and/or water entering. I did a search on the internet and couldn’t find anything.

Sand and water are not supposed to be in HVAC ducts. The ducts in question should be evaluated by an HVAC contractor or a Mechanical contractor.

I typically do not get overly concerned with a small amount of sand as this could have entered the system during the construction stage. Depends on the amount.

Water different story when I find water I recommend that the ducts be sealed with concrete and a up-flow system be installed. Proper drainage surrounding the foundation should also be addressed to prevent water from entering under the slab foundation.

I alway recommend that a camera scan be performed to determine the actuaal condition of the embedded duct work.
