The Q, despite Brian’s poor eyesight is not a PDA and I actually have both.
I have recently purchased a Toshiba Tablet and do like the larger 12" size and keyboard.
If your eye site is good, the Q1 is a very capable machine and it also fits inside a covered clipboard but I can use the Toshiba more easily without my bifocals though I think a carrier with a handle would make it more secure.
The Q1 does not require a special pen to write on the screen(even a plastic mechanical pencil with a lead retracted works fine)
The Toshiba pen is special and it’s $40 if you lose it. Nothing else will work.
For the moment I am going back and forth between them.
If nothing else I end up with a spare in the event of computer failure.
As they say, different strokes for different folks.
Hey Glennen, I recently purchased Homegauge Pocket PC as an add-on to Homegauge and run it on an IPAQ 211. I also purchased an Otterbox Defender Series caseto protect it on inspections. So far it’s working great. I carry it in the holster and pull it out as needed. After the inspection I sync it to my desktop and finish what’s left of the report.
The primary reason I prefer the larger computer screens is at the end of the inspection I go over my findings with the clients on my computer. It is much easier for everyone to see the report on a larger screen.
Still trying to decide what to get next myself, but these tablets do not have the processor speed and ram I require for all my fun gadgets.
Even the one I have now is smoking because I discovered Quake Live Online.
I am not one for online gaming ,but…
Not to mention my voice dictation, graphic programs,HIP,and forum use all going on at the same time.
Now if the Q1 can handle it I am in. lol
Thanks for all the feedback. I think I will go with HomeinspectorPro; looks loke something I will like. I’m new at this and want to find the right stuff. So, it looks like the Q1 is a good choice. What did you pay for it? Where did you get it?
If one doesnt care about PDA compatibility but wants something that can be uploaded to a site for customers to access… I find some on EBAY that come with a INACHI membership - cheaper than a membership alone… here’s one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310123016677
