Inspection & writing section

What do we do if we do NOT have access to perform a mock inspection that is required as part of the course work? I am in the Advanced Crawlspace course now, but since I live in Florida we are on a S.O.G.; as are my neighbors. I’m from Seattle and this would’ve been so easy back home LOL. Could’ve gone to any number of neighbors or even my own jobsites. Thanks for the guidance.

Go to any images you can find regarding crawl spaces and report on what you see in those images. Your “mock” inspection can be based on visual images even though you were not actually there.

I agree with Thomas. Find a picture of a crawl on Google and inspect it, and write your assignment.

Thanks Gents. Maybe a screen shot from the videos.

Here’s one for ya. Remember, for your writing assignment, you don’t necessarily have to write a whole report on the component. Pick an issue and write a brief narrative. What is wrong, what are the repercussions, what do you recommend?

Feel free to take as many screen shots as you want from this video of a crawlspace that has plenty for you to comment on for your mock inspection.

Here is a short list to help get you started.

Moisture intrusion (2" standing water puddles)
cast iron pipes
insulation falling down from subfloor
cracks in foundation CMU blocks
Added metal posts for floor structure
unsecured wires
poorly supported HVAC ducts
poorly supported water supply pipes
water damage to subfloor under bathroom
substandard vapor barrier on ground
trash/construction debris throughout
broken/missing cross bracing between floor joists
crawlspace door broken
organic growth on wood floor structure

I have a crawlspace video taken from my crawler on my website. View it and report on what you see.
