That’s good news. Last I knew, ICA offers the Indiana 12 hours practical experience as a standalone package. Since InterNACHI cannot fulfil that requirement, will someone add ICA to the Indiana approved instructor list and get rid of the bogus instructors?
Inspection Certification Associates (ICA), the leading provider of home inspector training, has partnered with the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI®), the world’s largest inspection trade association,
I thought InterNACHI was the leading provider of home inspector training.
We’ve been approved for pre-licensing in Indiana for years: InterNACHI® - International Association of Certified Home Inspectors
Are you talking about the 12 hours of field training?
Yes, I am referring to the 12 hours of practical experience. InterNACHI has no way to offer this part of the requirement.
We leave that to your fellow inspectors. Good gig for them.

It’s also against Indiana Administrative Code. I’ve been trying to tell you, Ben and Kaela this for 6 months now.
Why? Why can’t you get approved to offer them?

Why
Training in Indiana isn’t provided by other inspectors, it can only be from approved education providers.

A human has to provide the training. So are you saying you need us to approve you to train?
I just checked with our Education Department. We can handpick field trainers to work with us in IN and fulfill the 12 hours of practical requirement. Would you like to be approved?

It’s my understanding that any instructor that an education provider uses for any portion of the training must be listed on the provider’s biennial renewal application and approved by the board. The state provides a list of approved instructors, each with a unique license number. This is a very short list, and Ben is the only person from InterNACHI on that list.
Back to the original query, will someone be updating the Indiana page with corrected information?

Give me the correct blurb that should be on there.
After reaching out to the board yesterday, I realized; InterNACHI is exploiting a loophole in the state rules. Genius!!
An InterNACHI student literally has the entire pool of state licensed inspectors to use for the 12 hours practical experience, as long as InterNACHI accepts the hours and lists the inspector as an instructor in their biennial application.
Personally, I would want a written contract with InterNACHI since it is still illegal for licensees to offer education services directly to a student for compensation. And then there are certain disclosures that an inspector would have to give a client if a student is going pay the inspector to be present at a live inspection. Hopefully, others are doing the same.
But again, genius. I applaud you.

Well, that isn’t a loophole. That’s the law. Your state gave it to InterNACHI to handle for them, and so we’re handling it for them.
Hi I’m new to all this

that isn’t a loophole. That’s the law
How is it not a loophole? The system wasn’t set up for students to get their 12 hours from another inspector. The law expressly prohibits it (878 IAC 1-4-1). The loophole is that InterNACHI lists the inspector on their biennial application as an instructor. You do list them as an instructor, right?
If you don’t believe me, consider this document. Thornberry Sr wants the board to consider allowing licensees to apply to offer the 12 hours. What provider do you suppose they were talking about? The discussion was tabled and never discussed again.
