I’m in Florence down there in the lower corner. And this is from an official news report. That report must’ve been in the afternoon but I don’t do inspections in the afternoon during summer because it gets so hot here.
I’ve found the best is a larger smartphone and a laptop.
Tried a tablet a time or two but one that is small enough to comfortably fit in a pocket don’t offer much over a phone. Used an 8” one for a short time but ultimately broke it crawling a crawlspace.
As far as walk throughs we generally use the laptop with an auxiliary screen and go through the summary of the report and then look at anything that they wish to see.
As for on site vs back to office, do what works best for you.
A lot of our inspection are a hour or more from the office so we prefer to finish on site so if we decide we missed something we are right there and don’t need to return.
