The seller was present at the home and was about to leave. Christopher told her he usually will be able to access the line in the basement or on the roof and it is very rare to have to pull a toilet, then he said however do I have permission to pull the toilet if it comes to it. She said yes, that’s fine. Half an hour later her father comes over, who is a retired realtor, yelling at Chris saying he doesn’t know what he’s doing, home inspectors don’t pull toilets. Chris tried to tell him he has not pulled a toilet nor plans on it, but it is only a last resort. (obviously if the seller didn’t give permission, it wouldn’t even be an option to pull a toilet) So what happened was the seller and her dad made a big deal to the realtors about the situation…
It sounds like he did get permission in advance.
Dads know everything…
Well I would think that would be good enough to present to the REA or anyone that has any problems with it. Of course this is as long as everything was put back as it was found and with no leaks.
He never even needed to pull the toilet, he accessed the line from the roof. (He was only asking in advance, before the seller left, in case he needed to pull it.)
Wait, what?
You answered your own question. Things went south with negative emotion. Not a good sales environment. Realtors do their best to keep everything “sweet and calm as a summer day” as it should be.
I assumed he pulled the toilet because the realtor called me upset and said what are you guys doing, you cant be pulling toilets. But later I found out he never even pulled a toilet. He only asked the seller if he had permission to pull the toilet as a last result IF it came to that. There was confusion between parties.
Hopefully the REA has calmed down since hearing this news.
Pulling toilets is further than I am willing to go, even with permission. But then again, I am not a plumber so my comfort level stops before then.
Now it all makes sense…LOL
