Is this a drum trap? First I have seen in the field and it is a fairly modern fixture. Home built in '1997.
Yes it is, I mean no its not.
Think it is a defect? Or an FYI kind of thing?
Looks like a bottle trap.
It’s a"bottle trap"
Yes, that is what it is. Apparently, they are similar. So, 1997 home…think it is a problem?
From what I understand, they’re prone to clogging. Never dealt with one personally. It’s not a defect but worth mentioning their issues.
Most definitely!
Here’s a link for Kohler’s version
Hefty use of silicone, It must have leaked at one time. LOL
Good eye, I did not catch that. I was too blinded by that atrocity.
Yes bottle trap for those exposed areas, etc.
Nice diagram. Thanks. I can see why they could easily clog.
Nope. It is a bottle trap. You can still purchase Bottle traps at local hardware stores.
Bottle Traps can be compliant in jurisdictions.
Hope that helps.
A few conditions may need to be met for this bottle trap to be approved.
Is there a special condition which requires the trap?
Are the interior components non-corrosive?
Bottle traps are still very popular for use with Pedestal sinks as to their ability to be hidden within the pedestal.
What Jeffery sent the link too. We see them often in older homes in Utah!
