Looking for a ride along

Thanks for all the good advice.

Welcome to Florida! Sounds like you’re obtaining good instruction. Recommendation-be careful how you mention “I worked under his license”, I’m sure you meant that he WAS with you on the inspections and HE signed the reports with his state certificate number. In Florida, one is not allowed to perform inspections (wind mit) UNDER another license inspector unless they are a CILB licensed contractor. Again, welcome and all the best.

Edwin, contact some CMIs or CPIs within 40 to 50 miles, or closer, to your area and communicate with them. Maybe one, or more, will help you. Some inspectors feel as though they are training their competition by ride-alongs or mentoring.

Thanks for the advice but yes he is a licensed contractor.

Get the ride along’s while you can, not sure how many you need.
Just a heads up each inspector you ride with has too sign a piece of paper.

You only needed 25 in VA.

Thanks Timothy, as I stated previously I moved down to Orlando Fl. I am not longer in Virginia. I already completed my certification for the State of Florida and ride along’s is not a requirement for new inspectors down here I am just trying to learn from local inspectors before going on my own.

Okay! I have had even though I’ve been ill for months this year I’ve had five ride-alongs with me.
The one thing that I require from all Ride Along is that they have at least passed their state exam. If they can’t do that they’re not worthy to ride with me. Once you do that call me. I’ve been doing this for over 40 years. And I’m a master inspector.
If you don’t like my requirements then don’t call me. Either you’re dedicated to the Home Inspection industry or not.

Yea most inspectors here in my area, require the same. Pass the test first

Roy you forgot to warn them about the cigar smoke. Great ride bud and glad to hear you’re getting better. Stay safe bud and let me know if you need any help on any big inspections. I’ll come up and help out for the day.
