Now that I have CPI,I am anxious to get hands on,in the field experience. The only mentor I noticed her that does ride alongs is Dan Bowers.
Well,I spoke with Dan the other day and he does not do ridealongs,as he no longer does residential inspections.I was hoping he could put me in touch with some one that can help, but he had to end the conversation when I he received a call from his doctor. But I will give him another call tomorrow.
I also looked at the 2022 ASHI mentor list, but adressess are not listed,so I don’t know if any of them are near by.
Yes,I am aware of the whole "don’t want to train the competition"stigma.
I do have the option of going to St Louis for training with BPG,but the regional VP I spoke with, wants me to take the NHIE before I do any mentoring.
I’d rather not have to deal with any more testing.I have already taken several exams to get my certification from Ashworth,Igo Academys exam(never heard back from them…morons),and of course the InterNACHI CPI exam.
I am currently out of work so have way too much free time.I might go back to working maintenance very soon and wait until September to do mentoring. It depends on how soon I can find an inspector to do ridealongs with.
Adam, contact some CMIs or CPIs within 40 to 50 miles, or farther, to your area and communicate with them. Maybe one, or more, will help you. Some inspectors feel as though they are training their competition by ride-alongs or mentoring or hiring.
