Do any of you do direct marketing to sellers? For example, sending letters/advertising to people selling their homes. I was considering sending letters to homes that I see for sale signs on them, not to inspect their current home but one they are going to buy. My question is, has anyone done anything like this (I am sure you have) and how did it work? Also, if anyone does use this technique would you be willing to share your wording on the letter with me? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply, I am very aware of the benefits of becoming a NACHI member and I fully intend on joining. But for those of us just staring out every penny counts and to a big roller like yourself $289 may be "lousy" change, but to me that's a considerable amount of money. Thanks, I look forward to joining when financially feasible.

I’ll be honest with you…I’m in the same boat…but I thought to myself…can I afford not to join? The benefits outweighed eating for the next month IMO. You gotta spend money to make money. I am hopeful that just getting on a search engine will get me a few inspections. That in itself will pay for the membership and then some.

I became a member this weekend. In fact I’m so new I am still


using my “old” username/password so my membership does not even show up on the board yet. I got a lot of great info from these guys over the last 3 or 4 months just by reading the posts almost daily. The membership fee of $289 can be made up by one inspection that was attracted by the NACHI logo that you can use on your marketing materials, upon membership of course. To me it was not much of a choice to become a member. I haven’t officially started yet. I would like to get my signs, business cards, etc. ahead of time with the NACHI logo on them. It is probably the best marketing decision you can make at this time! If you still having reservations about membership, may be it would be wise to wait until you can afford this along with your other startup costs.
