Pictures can prove several things; Insurance fraud for one. If an inspector fakes the pictures and it can not be matched to the home it could be used to prove insurance fraud. A felony in the state of Florida
or
An individual or entity who knowingly provides or utters a false or fraudulent mitigation verification form with the intent to obtain or receive a discount on an insurance premium to which the individual or entity is not entitled commits a misdemeanor of the first degree (Section 627.711(3), Florida Statutes). The Qualified Inspector who certifies this form is strictly liable for all acts, statements, concealment of facts, omissions, and documentation provided by his or her employee who actually performed the inspection.
If they were caught they could loose their license. The pictures would prove a misinterpretation of the form.
I get several emails a week to look at reports and other stuff. Since I am trying to finish my continuing ed for one of my licenses I have not had much time. It is due at the end of the month.
Some things I can do quickly and others not. I did not want to rush through your mold stuff. I simply use the HG mold template. Russ is the go to guy for mold. His skills and knowledge in that subject far outweighs mine.
What I am having problems understanding is if certain people hate doing them so much then why do wind mitigbation inspections. We find them to be a great auxiliary inspection to add to our list of what we do. We may even do a more detailed report then most.
Why do you all insist on making things more difficult?
Why do you all blindly just follow along with everything the insurance companies say. Yeeeess um right away sir … It is pathetic. you are supposed to be the professionals and you let those morons tell you what is acceptable. Shame on you all.
You really blow my mind.
Pictures are not necessary except to back up what we find. For our own sake.
They should not be the difference in getting a credit or not.
If I observe something and state it that should be good enough. The pictures do not really prove squat. They should just be taken to help us back up our findings when dealing with idiots.
Please help me understand why the majority of you think this is dandy and just perfectly acceptable.
How do you all not see that it is just like Bruce said?
The teacher is telling you you must show your work.
Please grow some balls and stop doing unnecessary work. How does this help anyone? You must work longer and harder for no gain.
Wake up :roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:
If you do not see how pictures can prove you are correct, then I can not help you. I can show a hip roof with pictures, clips, wraps just to name a few.
If an inspector falsifies a report and the pictures do not match the home, then they can prove the inspector lied.
We can just say what it is. Like we do on all other inspections. Why do we have to go above and beyond? wE HAVE FILLED OUT THE FORM AND BASICALLY SWORN THE INFO TO BE CORRECT and TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE. WHY IS THAT NOT ENOUGH? WHY DO YOU all just suck it up and jump in line. Get some balls and stand up for yourselves. Sry bout the caps.
Why should we have to provide photographic half a-s proof of what we say.
As I have mentioned previously which you may have missed, this is not about the external elevation pictures. Those are not dangerous to take and no additional risk is taken to provide those. I do however feel that they are not necessary and is just the insurance companies way of obtaining elevation pictures of the house at not cost of effort to themselves.
We do not work for the insurance companies and the wind mitigation for is not used to do anything other than verify the clients homes mitigation features. It should not be used to get elevation photos or for checking the condition of the grounds etc…
If the insurance companies want these things or these services they should be the ones paying us.
Then they will have earned the right to tell us what they want.
They do not have the right to ask and they do not pay the bill and they do not write the form.
The insurance companies should be put in their place by those working for the clients best interests. The insurance companies should not be able to make it up as they see fit.
It is the job of the OIR to make the form and decide what should be provided.
No body is forcing you to do these inspections. Some of us do believe picture are important to document things and in this case your findings. With my ways of inspecting I have had some that can only determine roof to wall with a certain typ of camera and/or method. In our company we are happy to proved pictures, permits, product approvals, and anything else to document our findings. It helps the client, our company, and it is what the insurance company and oir require.
It is a waste of time and proves nothing. Someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed jumping thru hoops that prove nothing. You should only have to do as the form says visible or accessible.
You and I know that the insurance companies do not give the credits the clients deserve if pictures are not provided of useless crap.
Just curious what do marks on a truss really mean. How about when it is a shingle roof. Markings do not prove anything other than metal is there and a picture of a construction defect with a ruler next to it only proves there is one nail in the home that matches the photo.
Just curious why are you so gung ho to do this? It makes no sense to me that inspectors wish to be told how to do their jobs and that they must be good little boys and show their work.
I guess I will never understand the goosestep jump in line yes sir attitude.
The form is clear and the insurance agencies decide to make it up as they go along. It does not say on the form if the items are not photographed then no discount will be given.
Please tell me why a great many of you side with the insurance companies instead of the client.
