One interior wall panel bowing out next to front door. Very firm when pressed. Home built 2010. I noti ed about 2 years ago. Just noticed again and realize the bowing has extended outward further. FYI…We have a covered porch. Shingle roof replaced with metal approximately 7 years ago.
Yeah, I agree. Except “very firm” can mean different things. Depending on the thickness of the paneling, how tight it is installed, and the OP’s strength, it is not conclusive without more info.
Interior wall? What does the other side look like.
Is it a load bearing wall? Any signs of issues around the door and whatever is on the near side of the photo.
As mentioned above, one picture doesn’t tell us much other than there’s a problem.
While a bowed stud is entirely possible, as some point it would need to come free of it’s fasteners and usually whatever it’s attached to holds it mostly in place.
Water however can really change things. Any Staining? Any creaking and groaning? Situated on top of an Indian Burial ground? Have a daughter named Carol Ann?
IMO the only way to make an accurate assessment is to open it up to see if the studs are bowed, or if it’s just the surface materials that are just bowed.
She said interior wall but I think she meant the interior side of an exterior wall since you can see daylight coming in that metal-skinned front door which is open. Also notice the metal threshold.
This is why I asked. I agree that It looks like an exterior wall, but that could simply be one of those laundry areas with those garish fluorescent lights.
The door has a peep-hole, door knocker and weather strip.
Also she said the bulge is “next to the front door”.
I probably looked at that door longer than most. You would have seen it if you looked closer.
