Moisture meter problems

I have an Aquant Protimeter. I believe it uses a type of infrared to detect moisture (non-intrusive). I have recieved positive moisture readings on reflective material (metal studs, glass, and shiny wood walls in finished basements). Has anyone had this problem and what would you suggest to replace this moisture meter.

Heath,

I carry three different moisture meters. I often use just a plain old pin type moisture meter as the others that do deep scanning can give you false readings off certain materials. I just recently saw brand new pin type meters for sale on ebay for chump change compared to what they cost via the equipment catalogs. Sometimes the simplest is the best. Hope this helps. I have the Tramex WWD, Delmhorst 2100 and an el cheapo Rapitest that works just fine.
