Mold for an attic or crwalspace

If I am preforming a home inspection and I find apparent wide spread mold growth in a attic or crawl space, would I take only surface samples to confirm if it is actual mold, or do I need to take air samples also? If so, why would I need air samples?

I do not recommend air sampling in areas like that.
Chances are that it would come back as elevated mold present or not.
I wouldn’t either bother with a surface sample - it’s mold, Chinese, Japanese, or Hungarian - it’s gotta go.
If the buyer determines he needs it documented, then take a swab.

And, mold remediation could be expensive depending on the extent of it.
