Had a weird one today. It was an old beauty parlor and the main panel was originally in the basement. At some point a new main was installed on the first floor and the power was redirected from the meter to the new panel. All the breaker leads were pigtailed from the original panel and run in conduit to the new first floor panel. The grounds and neutrals were left in the original basement panel. A GEC and a new insulated neutral line was run from the new main to the old basement panel. I understand what they did, and why (cost I’m sure) but what are thoughts on this. I can’t find anything quickly that allows it, found lots that could be interpreted as no. My biggest concern would be loosing a neutral and being lost in the mess, or any future work is an unlabeled mess. Video of this here TikTok - Make Your Day
Where are the pictures?

There is a video link explaining it, pictures won’t help, it’s a system question spanning two floors nothing in the panel will really mean anything in a picture.

Neutrals must run with their respective ungrounded conductors, as I understand it. @rmeier2 has posted the code about it in past threads. A search of the forum may turn it up if you want to see the code.

Thanks, I’m seeing the same thing with my research. It was definitely an odd one.
