Remember, it was NACHI that got this great deal from John O. We provided the email database for it to go out to all. There is no shame in working with vendors. Free enterprise brings market incentives that are difficult to compete with. Go John!
Hi John;
Does the idea involve another $300 per year from each NACHI member? I’m not in favor of yet another cost for lead generation that should be included in my NACHI membership. On the other hand, maybe this is just another NACHI program to fall by the way side.
Nick;
What does “We provided the email database for it to go out to all” mean? Does that mean that John is using the membership email address submissions from the NACHI system? I’ve spent a lot of time over the past 16 months uploading 17,000 email addresses. I hope my competition or a private outside company is not using my own time, effort and labor against me. If that were the case, I can’t tell you how “Wrong” that would be.
Will,
What do you mean “another NACHI program to fall by the way side” ??? You have 2 to choose from! How many more do you want/need? 3? 4? And no, NACHI only provided the email system for a fellow member to tell his fellow members about his nice service.
Of the 9 articles submitted, none were yours either. How long do we have to wait for you Will? Email me the article now… I will send it out to 1,000 randomly picked agents. If your article gets less than a 1/2% opt out rate, I will send it to all 1.8 million agents. My email address is nick.gromicko@nachi.org
Don’t let this “fall by the wayside.” Do it now.
No, we won’t blast the entire list with an article that has a worse opt out rate because of the risk of losing tens of thousands out of our database. Email me your’s and we’ll test run it on 1,000 randomly picked agents.
Hi Will,
No, I was thinking more along the lines of what you have in mind. www.homehintsenews.com is not a www.nachi.org service. It is an independant LLC. I am a three year NACHI member that saw a need and created a company to serve a niche. The system was exclusively beta tested by about 100 NACHI members to insure it’s usability and reliabilty. Most users of the system will probably tell you that $299.00 is nothing compared to the return they receive in referral inspections.
Jesus Nick!
What kind of a response is that? Don’t get in my face for questioning the operational status of the email system. I’ve asked over and over and over if the individual chapters can come up with marketing ideas to be used in conjunction with the NACHI email system for their specific areas. No one has responded. And by the way I emailed Chris yesterday per your instructions, still no response.
I asked earlier in this thread, can you use the fire safety smoke alarm program photos in a mass emailing? It no doubt will help us members with exposure and also benefit the NACHI foundation or whomever is responsible for the free smoke alarm idea.
Additionally, please forgive me for not having a news article ready for immediate review. Am I to assume that for a member to have thoughts and ideas about a program and to express them on this board, you must be an expert in that particular field of expertise. Can I not have an opinion on the TP insurance program unless I’m an insurance agent ready to write a policy? What a novel concept…
No, I do not have access to the email addresses that you or anyone has uploaded into the NACHI system. I know it can be confusing but the NACHI system is in no way connected to www.homehintsenews.com (Grail Media, LLC). I do have access to many email addresses currently in the Grail Media LLC system but they are are all private and confidential to each of our individual users. I hardly ever see any of them unless a user asks me directly for support of his/her subscribers. Emails that my users upload are for their exclusive use only. This I can promise. I am not perfect but I compensate for that by being a man of my word.
Sorry you spent so much time uploading those email addresses. I might have been able to show you an easier way.
Will,

If you are not getting a response from someone at NACHI, email me at nick.gromicko@nachi.org I answer every email, every day.

As for the newsletter (NACHI’s not John’s), I’ve asked for articles and am asking again now. It is a really tough thing to come up with. I hate to burst anyone’s bubble but REALTORs (like me) are not very interested in inspection articles unless there is some real estate spin to it. I would love to say I have a dozen ready to go, but I don’t. If you have even an idea for an article you think will work (have a low opt out rate), email it to me. I confess, I need help on this. I’ll test run it. Remember, every agent who opts out is lost from our future mailings… so it is not neglect you are witnessing, it is carefullness. I’ve asked my REALTOR friends for help on this but all they want to know about is pre-listing inspections and using an inspection to acquire listings.

If you want me to be put in a padded cell, imply that our projects are going by the way side. It drives me bonkers. Our project assembly line is pumping stuff out so fast it’s scary. I thought we all were certain that NACHI would level off in 2005? Anyway, the newsletter issue is all based on my failure to find a low opt out rate article. If it bugs you… I can relate… it is certainly within my realm of expertise and I think I am best able to find a good one… but I’ve failed… and it is driving me crazy.
I apologize that you have to go round and round with a crazy man (me) on this.
Yes! A communicative tone during an exchange of ideas. No your not crazy. I’m actually one of your supporters. I’m not a regular on the board, but when visiting have stated again and again, “Your the only one who ever answers my email and questions”. Correct that, Joe Ferry was very helpfull in trying to do business with Towers Perrin.
I’ll try and contact whomever is in charge of the Southern California NACHI Chapter for discussions about possible email newsletter content. For 21 years I’ve done nothing but inspect properties. I have no public writing skills what so ever, as you can probably tell from my posts.
I do have one more question. The paper version inspectors quarterly gets sent directly to real estate agents. Is it possible to incorporate smaller sections of that content into an email newsletter? For example, ICC creates a quarterly printed publication, but also has monthly email newsletters which have fresh content but also articles from the printed media.
Thanks again,
Roy Cooke just sent me an email asking if I could help him upload some new subscribers that he acquired by doing his radio show (good way to get them Roy). Anyway, while I was in his account, I noticed that 93% of his subscribers actually viewed his April newsletter. That’s incredible!
Of course, I asked Roy if I could share this information. Roy is definitely on the cutting edge. You go Roy!
I wish 93% of mine viewed it…sigh
It will come in time I’m sure…
Thanks John.
This is the forth time I have been on the Radio.
I was asked about associations and I told them the truth .
In Ontario we have the existing association that seems to be stagnate at this time and
NACHI who is growing at a very fast pace and how they do much for the Home inspectors and the public.
I had 19 people call in with questions and I was able to answer 18 immediately .
One question I had to get help from our great group .
I had 35 email me to get on my list of Johns Home Inspection News .
If you have not seen it send me email and I will put you on the mailing.
Sent it out and many have sent back and said how glad they are to get it .
The radio went so well I have been asked to go on again in sept.
Easy to do and I like it .

Great Job Nick!
I like the new NACHI e-newsletter logo as well.
Here’s the link to the most recent NACHI e-newsletter:
http://www.nachi.org/buyersrealtorsenewsletter.htm
Nick has arranged for fresh content e-newsletters through June of 06’. The current issue was just sent to approximately 1 million real estate agents and or clients as entered by the membership into the NACHI client database.
Please submit your ideas/concepts for future content on this thread and or via email to myself, your local chapter and or Nick…
That newsletter on “10 things you should know about mold” was sent last July (2005).:neutral:
And we have given suggestions on content. Here is the link:
Here is the newsletter as it appeared in emails sent out to the database on August 10, 2005 (not July) with it was the new logo for the NACHI newsletter. (the logo couldn’t post here). The logo was new last August (not new now).
**Ten Things You Should Know About Mold **
- Potential health effects and symptoms associated with mold exposures include allergic reactions, asthma, and other respiratory complaints.
- There is no practical way to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment; the way to control indoor mold growth is to control moisture.
- If mold is a problem in your home or school, you must clean up the mold and eliminate sources of moisture.
- Fix the source of the water problem or leak to prevent mold growth.
- Reduce indoor humidity (to 30-60%) to decrease mold growth by:
a. venting bathrooms, dryers, and other moisture-generating sources to the outside;
b. using air conditioners and de-humidifiers;
c. increasing ventilation;
d. and using exhaust fans whenever cooking, dishwashing, and cleaning. - Clean and dry any damp or wet building materials and furnishings within 24-48 hours to prevent mold growth.
- Clean mold off hard surfaces with water and detergent, and dry completely. Absorbent materials such as ceiling tiles, that are moldy, may need to be replaced.
- Prevent condensation: Reduce the potential for condensation on cold surfaces (i.e., windows, piping, exterior walls, roof, or floors) by adding insulation.
- In areas where there is a perpetual moisture problem, do not install carpeting (i.e., by drinking fountains, by classroom sinks, or on concrete floors with leaks or frequent condensation).
- Molds can be found almost anywhere; they can grow on virtually any substance, providing moisture is present. There are molds that can grow on wood, paper, carpet, and foods.

Hey Dan;
I didn’t know that article was issued in 2005. Maybe Nick feels it’s safe to re-issue the article to a much larger audiance. We all know mold is a hot button issue. I did review your other thread about content ideas. Seems Radon, Mold, Carbon Monoxide issues would all be good. My personal favorite is Smoke Alarms. I can’t believe how many agents have no idea when, where and why smoke alarms are required in residential structures. An article on those safety issues alone is a no brainer. I also noticed several members have concerns about the e-newsletter being sent to their clients. It would only go out to agents and or clients who have been specifically uploaded by a member into the NACHI email database which was designed, I believe, for this type of program.
My email address is on that particular email list (so I could get samples) and I didn’t receive the email.
Is there a reason why?
David,
I also had similar results.
I entered a secondary personal address today to test future newsletters in teh event that there is a technical bug I am not aware of the impacted the first.
This seems to have been an issue for some time, though, (I have had this problem, and I have seen others post the same) and I have not seen where it was directly addressed.
Hey Will, Hope you and everyone had a Happy Easter!
The point of my post was showing that email that went out in August of 2005, and it was the first and last one sent out. Also the link that was previously posted with the new NACHI logo and talking about having enough content for the news letters to go thru June of 2006 was written and posted in July 2005. So, If there was enough articles to go monthly from July 2005 to June 2006, Why is the reason now that they never went out because of the membership not sending in Articles or giving input for the articles?
This post is not directed at anyone, nor is it to give any ill intent…I’m just confused.:wha?:
I need someone to give us clarity;-)
