Jose,

ONLY if you promise NEVER to open up shop in the general Corpus Christi area will I try to help you with your pre-test needs. Just kidding, but not really, it seems that everybody and their dog has heard somewhere that things are booming on the Texas Coast. They are booming but not enough to handle more than 25 NEW inspectors in this area alone in the past two years!! The market simply is not that big!

Anyway...the TREC test is a real bit.., if you know what I mean! If you have only taken correspondence courses then amigo I fear you will be sorely disappointed after you take the test for the first time. Without sounding like a spokeperson for them, Leonard Hawes RE school in Dallas has an excellent line of courses, with instructors (most of them) who actually know of what they teach. The advanced course # 660 is the best of the bunch (around $400 for a solid week of actually going out and doing inspections while under the wing of an instructor). Aside from enrooling in course that force you to do inspections, rather than read about how to do them, I would suggest you get any creditable text or reference book you can find. Like Burgess Real Estate Home Inspection book called Mastering the Profession, a smaller book by Robert Irwin, and one by William Ventolo and Frame Construction by Rob Thallon should get you started.

Be forewarned that no matter how much or how well you study (memorize) the many texts available, there will still be about 15-20 questions out of the 150 question TREC professional exam that will be completely new to you. They love to dig stuff out of the deepest darkest crevices of the NEC, IRC and other code-type refernce books; very few of which obscure facts will ever be of use to you when you are inspecting 99% of your jobs.

Good Luck, and remember stay in SA, that area is growing fast enough to handle many more inspectors!!! ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)
