Recommend evaluation for suitability and/or possible replacement by a licensed electrical contractor…

Just my .02

Many smarter than I will likely advise you as well.

Maybe something about the servce panel being badly corroded and also having unprotected NM cable not rated for exterior exposure. Then mention that the insulation on many of the conductors in the fuse panels is deteriorated indicating the need for immediate replacement of the older wiring.

Rather than recommend "evaluation" I'd be recommending they obtain estimates for a complete rewiring.

Mike…sorry…that did sound like I was criticizing your post. I didn’t mean to. Either way would be fine I think, as long as the client is well aware that they need a sparky.

I had blown up and lightened Heath's photos. The conductors in the 2nd photo are just plain nasty.

Obviously, any call would be based on first hand observation of the whole house and not just the three photos. But it sure doesn't look good.

Thanks for the help. I recommended she have an electrician evaluate the house as a whole at the inspection. You gotta love these old houses! There was a couple of 120v aluminum wiring as well, hey, why not!
