Need Information on a Furnace

that I have never seen before or have any information on. The furnace has a Manufacturer Name of Day & Night Mfg. The model #: is 100H4811 and the Serial Number is 6DVVH42152. Any information, date of mfg on this unit would be most appreciated. My main question as who actually mfg this unit?

thanks in advance for your help.

Patrick,

according to Prestons, the unit was manufactured by “day & night” between 1971 and 1973 and is a 100,000 BTU unit.

Well past it’s expected lifespan.

BTW Day and Night were also sold as California specials, Forumla, and Profile.

Gerry

Gerry,

Thanks for the information, this unit was in “Cherry” shape and look like it just came out of the box. Not a dent, scratch, rust spot on it. Your information kinda of threw me for a loop.

Patrick,

I have found very many problems and inaccuracies with Prestons guide, does this dating coincide with the details of the home?

Regards

Gerry

Gerry,

Actual the home was built in 1930 and by appearance has been re-modeled twice with the lastest one being completed in 1985 or 86. According to the seller, he replaced this unit and A/C back in 1999 or 2000, but the A/C unit which is an armstrong appears to older than the furnace, could not tell because the mfg tag on the A/C was unreadable (badly weathered). So to answer your question, I can say the furnace looks less than 5 years old by appearance and the A/C unit looks like its past its designed service life. I deferred to a HVAC technician for service and evaluation to cover my back side. The home is two story with zoned heating and air with the second units being Lennox and both of them were way past thier designed service life but operational. I am going to call the number Jae gave me to get information to put in my handy little reference book. Thanks Jae for the number, I will give them a call tomorrow.

Gerry & Jae

I called the number Jae gave me, it was the Canadian Branch for Carrier. They were kind enough to give me the U.S. number which is (315) 432-6000 after talking to them, they directed me to the customer relations department which is (800) 227-7437. They had to look up the model and S/N in thier archives. Gerry, you were right, it was mfg in July 1973. I passed the information on to the buyer a few minutes ago, the seller wasnt being very forthright on the information he gave us on when this unit was replaced. Too bad the A/C mfg tags were badly weathered so that I couldnt read them. But I suspect they are old units as well, way past thier designed service life.

Again, thanks for the help.

Gee, I called the first number 3 or 4 years ago for help–I didn’t realize I was talking to Canada…thanks for the new numbers - they’re now in the “system”.

Jae,

You are very welcomed!
