New business owner. Need help with insurance

Hello everybody. I live in California and will be ready to start inspections soon. I am a new business owner and need some help from certified home inspectors in California. What type of insurance do you have? Do you use errors and omissions insurance? Do I need general liability? Also any bond? I appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you!

Yes, you need Errors and Omissions and General liability at a minimum.

There are only a handful of companies that have E&O for home inspectors, and most package it with general liability.

I’ve been with Inspector Pro Ins for 15ish years and happy with them, overall.

I also had used OREP for several years before Inspector Pro and had a good experience with them. But that was a long time ago.

Thank you!

Woah that is a long time and good to know! I will check them out. Thank you!

I use elite MGA. They have been very helpful and always available when I have questions or need to make changes to the policy. I have been with them long enough that they actually reduced my rate.

I would change your picture here. It looks like your going to your cousins wedding.

Yes, E&O and General Liability at a minimum. Elite MGA is who I use for this.

We have a $25k fidelity bond through InterNACHI that is included with membership. That’s the only bond I have.

Thank you!

Thanks for the info!

Definitely go with MGA. OREP used to be a good deal, but the prices have skyrocketed and the customer service is nowhere near where it once was.

We are in California and we use this agent. He has been so helpful and loves taking care of his clients. https://www.callidusinsurancesolutions.com/about

I’m interviewing insurance companies right now. Do you use Inspector Pro for commercial and residential? Separate policies or Resi/Comm combined? I can’t find much info online about their commercial coverage. I spoke with a broker briefly this morning but didn’t get much into the Commercial side.

Any limitations on commercial with them ie. building type, size, etc.?

I am insured for both residential and commercial through Inspector Pro. When you apply or fill out your yearly renewal, you breakdown your percentages of work between the two and they quote accordingly.

I ended up going with inspector pro too. They were very helpful and explained how the policy works. You have to use their pre inspection agreement. It’s very similar to InterNachi’s. I definitely recommend Inspector Pro.
