James,
I tend to agree with you, hand writing the address makes it much more personal than a mass mailing. The good thing about that is you can download fonts that look like you hand addressed it, when in fact you did it like me and used the computer and a database. Some of them are so good it is really difficult to tell!

I have to say that no matter what “handwriting” font you use, everyone can tell the difference. I’ve never seen a handwriting font that I couldn’t tell wasn’t real – even ones that I’ve created using my own handwriting. Beyond that, the space on the front of my proposed postcard is not for the recipient’s name, but for your name and phone number. Then there’s space to either print something on the back, or handwrite quick notes to the agent/buyer/seller.

To all readers:
I and NACHI would really like to see more responce from more people, just a simple yes I would like it or no, I wouldn't use it. This would only be cost effective if a good number of people what this and the only way to know is if YOU respond. New Inspectors and long time Inspector need to cast a vote. If there are enough NEW inspectors wanting this help I know the other NACHI members will work together on this.( WE help you get stronger faster and that helps NACHI get stronger faster.)

I use post cards all the time for different purposes.
I buy them blank with a stamp already on them for 25 cents a piece at the post office.
Some I pre-print with my address and blank address lines on the stamp side and lines for handwriting on the reverse. I usually use these to send to buyers, sellers and both realtors after the inspection with a personal note.
Others I preprint with my address and blank address lines on the stamp side and a pre-printed message on the other side addressed to home sellers. I'll frequently take down for sale addresses and send cards to the seller with helpful information about preparing for the buyer's home inspector to show up.
I'll also use the data base method of printing them to remind my past customers to keep referring me.

each printed up, do you think there may be more response? Check out the prices on www.vistaprint.comthere prices seem really good when buying 20,000 + and would make room for a little profit for NACHI and a good price for Home Inspectors. I have no idea of there quality, but when looking at a large sale they would send you some samples.

James,
The example I have up there is just to give an idea of what can be done. If we decide on a design, we'll get 'em printed in bulk, thus making them much more affordable.

Chris, Thank you for that information on the Post Cards, that information alone may make a difference on if people would want to buy them collectively through NACHI. Maybe more Inspectors will consider them at a much lower rate? But we will never know if more Inspectors don’t speak up will we.

I would hate to see this idea die But if it would not be in the best interest of the Inspectors and NACHI I could let it go, but I really feel it would be a great tool for all.
I am not a computer wiz in fact this is the only place I've used a post, so if there is a better place or way to get more responce it would be great if one of you would let me know.

Since I’m a franchise, I get various postcards through my home office for as little as .05 each, so it probably would be difficult for me to economically justify buying different cards elsewhere.

Anyone out there?
Just hoping to keep this alive but in order to achieve this I need a little more in the response area. 636 hits and only 33 replies and not all 33 count, I see your looking now just hit a few keys and respond. Kill the Idea or put in an OK I’d use it. This could benefit a lot of newbies as well as all members!

Chris;
I see you have the NACHI postcards listed for sale on the merchandise page and I like the look. How is the responce going? Does it look like inspectors are responding? Is there a shot at buying bulk to save even more?
Just hopeing people see the benfit of using NACHI to get in the door.
The card catches the eye, gets to the point and your name is in the house.

post cards are fine , but I us a magnet business card , finding these are kept around more , people put them on furnaces , near electric panels etc. my last order was for a 1000 and only 15 cents each. and I enclosed them in a cover letter in mass mailing . using labels made on my computer,
Mailing cost , but advertising in newspaper is more expensive and only a few see that ad.

I like the idea but if I understand the post addressing price these come up to just under a $1.00 each.
This sounds a bit steep for any mass mailing with postage on top of that, if the price can be reduced to almost half of that I would consider using them.
I do like the looks of the card Chris posted.

The reason the price is so steep right now is because they’re printed on demand. If people show an interest, we can order in bulk. They’re really just up there for testing purposes currently. If people are interested, we can talk about getting a few thousand printed.
