It’s a bit of a bear. I have guinea pigs in the business who scored much lower on this one. Might be tough for a newbie.

Try it and let me know what you think (you sort of have to forget the answers you know to judge it objectively... hence my guinea pigs.)

Very good test. I did OK (80). Had only 10 minutes to take test before a meeting. I need to fine tune my electrical. eusa_doh.gif

Nick, Add me to the list of “guinea pigs”. Not sure if it was for the challenge or curiosity, but i gave it a go. Noticably fewer throwaway answers. Scored 93. Much improved test.

Wasn’t quite as easy to toss out the totally bogus answers.

And I like the new layout alot!

Yeah, but you know the answers. I did worse than you. Anyway, our guinea pigs demonstrated a higher failure rate than the last entrance exam so we reset the national stats page today.

We'll have new stats based on this entrance exam posted on Friday and we'll compile from that point on.

I took the tests three different times. Improved lay out, harder questions,

but I scored a high of 91 on the last try. Good job!!!

We’ll see how the non-members do Friday. Any non-members out there willing to fess up?

Non-member first attempt at new test, not changing any answers at the end 87. Should probably have gone over a few with time remaining at the end of test, but they say your first answer is usually the best. Like the graph on the result page, indicating weaknesses. Overall good test. Thanks, Steve

The new exam page says this:

Quote
Removal of all humor (Note: humor did not affect scoring in previous versions).
Removal of all "gimmies" (Note: gimmies did not affect scoring in previous versions).
Removal of a default chosen answer. The exam now requires you to make a choice, even if a guess, before moving on to the next question (Note: default answers did not affect scoring in previous versions).
Quote

That doesn't make sense to me.

So if I had chosen the humorous, gimme, or default answers, it was not counted? But if it was not counted, that in itself counts, doesn't it? If I took the test and chose all the default answers (which I did), then if the default answers did not affect scoring, then I would either have scored a 0 or a 100. That means that scoring was affected.

An answer is an answer and certainly does affect scoring, I would think.

I'm confused, and I haven't even had a margarita yet tonight. Shortly, though.

Took the test - scored 94. I don’t know if ALL the humor is gone (ref a question where spectoscope is part of the answer).

PS: I think a nice adder would be: after one submits and gets one's score and the stats, a list of the questions one missed with the correct answers (to educate the vacuous portion of one's brain) be shown.

I've always wanted that, but the powers that be (whomever they are in this particular instance) do not. The reason I've always been given is that no other testing service does that and that it would give away the answers, etc., etc., etc.

Perhaps at least the questions that one missed (not just the numbers of the questions, but the actual questions themselves). Then one could learn how to use the Internet and one's reference books to research the correct answer.

I would not even provide the possible choices of answers that were on the test. Just let us know which question we missed.

Test was harder than the old one.

Your online score is:
You answered 97 questions correctly, totaling 390 points
You answered 23 questions incorrectly, totaling 86 points
Giving you a final score of: 82 (a passing grade)

I did not double check any answers, although I guessed at a few ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)
I had 38 minutes remaining as I did it in a hurry.
Overall the test was very good and more of a challenge.
Here is a question about tests for you:

When I do an inspection, if that ever happens for me, I plan to let my client know when I don't know something. I will research the information when I get home to get a correct answer. Tests don't take that into consideration! I believe testing should shadow what we as HI's are really doing in the field. And I don't care how long you have been an HI, you simply do not know everything. Would it a bad idea to allow test takers to use notes or other means of information?

This was stressed whein I went through my Fire Instructor Training. If you lie to a student (or client) you will lose credibility. It is far beeter to admit you are human and get them the answer later. But ALWAYS follow up.
