Hey everyone,
I’m a newly licensed home inspector based here on Long Island NY. , and I’m looking for some real-world advice on how to get the phone ringing and get this business off the ground.
A little bit about my situation: I’m not diving in full-time just yet. I still have my regular day job in the trades and plan on keeping it until the inspection business is steady enough to sustain me. Because of that, my flexibility during the standard 9-to-5 workday is a bit limited, but I am fully ready to hustle on weekends and evenings.
To get the ball rolling, I’ve started hitting up local open houses on the weekends. I’ve introduced myself to a handful of realtors and handed out my business cards, but so far… crickets. No phone calls, no bookings, and not much traction.
I know breaking into the Long Island market can be tough, and building trust with agents takes time. For those of you who started this out as a side hustle or remember what it was like when you first launched, what worked for you?
How can I better leverage my weekend open house visits so realtors actually remember me?
Are there specific digital marketing strategies (local SEO, social media, etc.) that give you the best bang for your buck?
Should I be focusing my energy somewhere other than realtors to get those first few crucial jobs?
Any tips, marketing strategies, or constructive advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the help!
There is a TON of “real world” advice in the archives of this forum. Much of which is very relavent today.
Good luck.

Everything you need is there
Home inspector marketing is not a “one size fits all”. Different things work for different inspectors.

It’s all there. Every marketing success and failure you could ever want.
All it takes is being willing to read it.
Have you gotten anywhere with this? I’m in the same position in Louisiana.
