Hello fellow members, I joined up about a month ago and dove into the SOP course. I progressed through to the writing assignments, then took the CPI exam exposing my weaknesses. I then started the HVAC course and completed it with an exam score of 90 obtaining my certificate. it’s been about a week since, and I have been hoping for some feedback on the two writing assignments for HVAC before completing more courses. I didn’t use any checklist or software, I simply observed, described, and reported my findings on a condensation pump that was not working. I made recommendations for further evaluation. I just want to make sure I’m doing what’s required in regard to the writing assignments before completing more courses. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

When I went through the courses a few years ago, there was never any feedback on the essays. If you don’t hear anything, assume all is good.
I’m in the same boat. Not sure if what I am submitting is what is required. And only sending one picture as that is what it seems to ask for despite a normal report consisting of many pictures. Thinking about using software going forward.
Follow the instructions. If it ask for a photo and a narrative then do that!
For report writing, follow the SoP according to your state or local requirements (if any). If you are a member in an unregulated state, the use the NACHI SoP.
NACHI SoP defines an inspection report here.
1.3. A home inspection report shall identify, in written format, defects within specific systems and components defined by these Standards that are both observed and deemed material by the inspector. Inspection reports may include additional comments and recommendations.
You will see that it does not mention photos. Report software and multiple photos are at the discretion of the inspector.
The narrative is omnipotent. Photos are not a narrative.
Hi Kevin, Welcome sir, I continued completing my courses. I’ve printed several certificates and passed the main cpi exam. I’m to the point of submitting the four mock inspections but before I do, I started a course on Report Writing. It’s been very beneficial to me.
