I was thinking of making a new photo based course. It’s purpose would be to help inspectors find SPOT defects.
Rather than having a single photo depicting a defect and ask "What's wrong with this picture?", perhaps we could have multiple photos. Only some photos would depict a defect. The others would be just photos of components of a house that are defect-free.
The object would be to pick out the photos that clearly depict a defect.
This would closely simulate an actual inspection.
At the end the course would produce the list of photos that depict defects you failed to notice (oops, I missed that one!).
Since there might be disagreement about some photos, we could put a link to a dedicated thread on this message board for each photo. That way if there is any dispute or ambiguity about a photo, we could replace it.

Bring it on, Nick.
Sounds like a great educational tool. Mixing the defective component photos with the defect-free photos would be a challenging experience for the curious.

Nick,
Is it ready yet? ![icon_smile.gif](upload://b6iczyK1ETUUqRUc4PAkX83GF2O.gif)
Absolutely fantastic idea. But please make sure the pictures are clear and large and in colour (color for you Yankees).
I did a defect recognition portion of an exam and half of the pictures I had to decipher were either blurry, dark, or black & white.
When I complained I was told that "All others get the same pictures"
