It will have to be removed as it it drawing return from the garage. Some folks have to work real hard to be dumb and some folks are just naturally that way??? This was from this morning’s Inspect I almost fell from the attic excess hole when I saw this.

Yes Marcel they cut the ceiling joist don’t know why the plenum would have fit between the joist if they had turned it the opposite direction. They did box the ceiling joist in and they did surprise me. I just wrote the whole mess up all I can do.
