It feels like there should be insulation on these exterior walls. I know that there is no AC in this area. But I would think it would help with minimizing the temperature swings and helping keep the interior insulated walls from transferring as much heat. Thoughts?
If the home is properly ventilated, additional insulation would be useless.

Forgetaboutit! Move on !
Cheers
You don’t insulate unconditioned spaces. There would be no advantage in either energy savings or cost.
That area is for ventilation, not insulation!
You put insulation where there is a temperature differential between one side and the other.
Seeing this is a ventilated space, there is no differential.
Think you better go back and take that course again.
