Not sure what topic to pick everything seems to be taken

Hi everyone, just want to introduce myself. My name is Rob and I’m extremely excited to get in the field of home inspections. After my battle with cancer, I decided I needed a career change. something less physical than what I was already doing. since I was a project manager for the last 10 years for a remodeling company. One of my responsibilities was making sure that all work was done to local code.

Welcome Rob and good luck with your adventure into this field. The “education” topic is a good place to start since you’ll have many questions regarding such. Feel free to post any questions you about your studies!

Edit: Keep in mind Home Inspectors are NOT Code Inspectors in a general sense of home inspections.

Welcome to the InterNACHI forum community, Robert.
All the best with your endeavors.

Happy your health battle with the dreaded C word is abating, although less physical a carrier I can not predict. I found it quite tiring at times for large home such as estates or commercial inspecting. As well, inspecting crawlspace have there own unique why of warning you down.

You past carrier inspecting work done to local code maybe practical, your narrative will shift to no or little code reference seeing AHJ can change code per building without liability and SoP doesn’t directly reference building codes, it does emphasize ‘the importance of reporting material defects that could impact the property’s value or pose a safety risk..

Good luck.
Robert

He’s worried about topics being taken, when the name Robert is already overused here…

Welcome, Rob. You have to be beaten into the club. And then repeatedly thereafter.

Everyone (with the exceptional of me) that has commented on this thread has a first name in the top 25. I think we should shoot for one post from each of the top 25 names.

That’s because nobody likes anyone with the name Ryan.

I hear ya. Fun fact, the name “Ryan” means descendant of the King. So, yeah, Trump may literally be my daddy.

Welcome to the best home inspection message board on the planet, Rob.

Enough small talk, let’s get down to brass tacks. What’s your political affiliation?

Just kidding, you don’t need to answer that.

Feel free to chime in with any questions, and remember, the only dumb question is the one you don’t ask.

Best of luck to you going forward!
