I believe you did everything expected of you and then some. I was just adding my perspective to the situation as an engineer (I have done truss design) and supporting your concern. I'm sorry if I implied you did anything less than required/expected of you.
To be honest, the only thing more that could be done is to contact the new owners. And that would have other concerns, issues, limitations, etc. And there is nothing to say that they would correct the problem either.
