Does anyone know of a quick and easy technique to add an arrow to a photo to point out a specific part of the picture? I’ve seen this but don’t know how they do it!

MicroSoft Word has arrows, text boxes, etc. We use them all the time.

Just found this download freeware called 20/20. You can add arrows to photos easily and also highlight sections of a photo in any shade you want. http://www.hotfreeware.com/

I use HomeGauge, and when you click to add a photo, the option to add arrows, circles, lines, appears as buttons you click before attaching the pic.

Robert,

What software are you using. If you don't have inspection report writing software, then you are probably using Word. Is that the case?

If so, I'll send you instructions on how to use Word to add this feature.

Rich, Actually I’m using ReportHost which utilizes Irfanview for uploading photos but does not have a feature to add annotations. The 20/20 software I posted earlier allows arrow, etc. then I can forward the photo to Irfanview. Still curious how to do this in Word though! Thanks, Bob W.

Hey Bob,

In Word, you would have to have the 'drawing' option activated on your toolbar. To do this, do the following;

Go to 'View/ Toolbars / drawing'-- place a check mark next to 'drawings'. This now activates this option in Word.

Now, either you can add the arrow, drawbox and/or oval (to circle an item) to whatever you need on the picture.

Here’s another cool download called “Picasa” that organizes photos like a rotating photo album. Great for personal photos or, you can view a complete inspection file of photos at one time, enlarge, repair, etc:
