Pool grounding?

I inspected an above ground, metal structure pool the other day. The pump had a 20’ cord [3 prong] plugged into a GFI. Shouldn’t the pump have a seperate ground wire to a hose bib or a ground rod? And shouldn’t the pool structure be grounded?

Bonded is the word you’re looking for.

Yes, all components should be bonded.

ICC E4102.2 Flexible Cords states;

“…for other than storable pools, the flexible cord shall not exceed 3 feet in length…”

There is also a requirement that the receptacle can only be from 5-10 feet away from the pool wall… .
