I was Inspecting an attic on yesterday and discovered this insect in the attic. I am unsure on what type of insect this is. I would appreciate any advice or expertise.

Looks like a roach egg sack.
Dominic nailed it.
Technically called Ootheca.
Mommy does not care what happens to them, they are deposited where there may be a food source & she walks away.
Only German cockroaches carry them until around 24 hours before hatching.
