New home inspection yesterday had a separate covered patio with propane fired grill and cooktop. Is the following observation and comment proper?
The ‘drip leg’ at the patio propane fired grill is designed such that it will not likely perform as intended to trap moisture and sediments in the gas line. Additionally, a drip leg or trap is not recommended for gas grills nor where any moisture in the trap might freeze and cause a ruptured pipe. I recommend the client discuss this with the builder and plumbing contractor to determine if this application is even needed, proper and adequate.
