Seriously though, I think we as inspectors are entering very dangerous territory by calling out safety defects. Just how far do you go in reporting safety defects? Are some safety defects more of a concern than others? Would a staircase that does not meet current codes stop someone from buying a house?

Personally I don't even say I inspect for safety items, if you do comment on one safety item and miss others what will happen? You had better be sure to point out every concievable safety item in my opinion.
