Filling in for the regulars at the last moment. First time I've posted a poll. Amazed that I got it to work!

Hi Richard,

thanks for stepping up to the plate (or should I say wicket), you are no longer a QOD virgin ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif) ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif)

3/8, 3/8/, 2 is the right answer. (IRC R314.2)

The slope allowed is 1 in 48 (2.08%) or 1/4" per foot.

Great question Richard. Iv been an interprovincial journeyman finish carpenter for over 35 years and ive never seen it expressed like that. I like it. I never thought about the 2% althought the 1/4" slope is code here for exterior stairs. Personally i would never build a set of stairs with more than 1/8" variation between risers. I guess that`s just my professional pride showing.
