Manufacturers recommendations dictate (rather than code) that there should be a gap of 1 1/2" to 3" at valleys to allow for debris runoff.


This is typical for most concrete tile manufacturers. Installers, however, like to butt this flat tile for a cleaner "appearance."

Jeff, what’s underneath the tiles at the valley? Metal flashing?


I've never seen this type of roofing around here.

Can the butting up of the tiles at the valley cause a moisture problem?
