Hi folks. Here in Maine there are no license requirments for HI. However, because of the large granit ledges in this area, many clients request radon tests. Do I have to be licensed to do radon even though my state does not require HI license? Is there some national standard?

Thanks in advance. Joaz Hill

Hello Joaz and welcome to NACHI board. You have to be registered with the state of Maine DEP per statute title 22 chapter 165 http://janus.state.me.us/legis/statutes/22/title22sec774.html. Good Luck in your adventure icon_biggrin.gif

Great! Thanks for the reply. Perhaps I asked the wrong question.

I don’t want to do the testing, I was just want to hang the gizmo(canister etc) Retrieve it and then send it to be tested. Is this allowed??

Thanks Joaz Hill

Joaz,

It is ILLEGAL to test (collect) a residence or it's water supply for radon if you neither own or rent the home, UNLESS YOU ARE REGISTERED with Maines' Radon Program. Similarly, if you are in the process of buying or selling your home, you are also prohibited by Maine's "Radon Registration Act" from doing the testing yourself.
![](upload://afXTm2yLNdAFwIhGdlwHQmDP5zm.gif) SORRY

The following companies/laboratories are registered with the state of Maine to perform these tests...
