Hard to visualize what you are describing without some pics. Try uploading the pics anyway (there are a few “sticky” posts on how to do that).
The part that rubs me the wrong way is the long span and the 2x6's scabbed to the 2x8's ... usually not done right ... especially if in the middle 1/3 of the span.
When in doubt, have and SE take a look at it to be safe ... gets the monkey off your back too. If it comes back it's okay, then great ... everybody is covered. You can't be an expert in every field ...
