Code of Ethics for Home Inspectors
I arrived at a property where I am to perform an inspection for a certain real estate agent and begin with the inspection when I notice the real estate agent talking with the prospective buyer in an unusual manner. About halfway through the agent who hired me asked if I would falsely state in the inspection report that the roof was in 'need of immediate repairs' so that the prospective buyer could offer a lower purchase price and then use that same money towards the down payment of the property. I stated that if I did that then I would be in violation of the interNachi code of ethics and therefore could not do so.
