Any experienced inspectors
What tools would you recommend to beginer inspectors. I would like to make a list of littery any tool, equipment or clothing.
I think Ben’s list is pretty good.

As a better temp probe. I have that one. I’m sure there are better ones but it works just fine for me. When I did HVAC work many moons ago, we had super expensive ones…this $50 one is just as good.
Get a bump cap as he suggested! “Ah, when am I ever going to need that” is the first thing you say to yourself. When you stick your head up into a low sloped roof scuttle hole and impale your scalp on a roofing nail is when. Ask me how I know.
Get a ladder stabilizer. I only use it on the homes with 10+ foot eaves but it’s great. Takes the sketchiness out of getting up there. You can also add a bungy strap to lash your ladder onto a stout gutter. Everything helps when it comes to ladders.
John,
During your shadow phase of training take note of what tools that the other inspector uses. You will come up with the tools that you want to use. The more inspections you do will lead to what tools that will help you in the inspection process and speed up the inspection. Start with basics and add expensive or special tools over time.
Good Luck,
John
