A client is asking me for a list of references in the LA area and I was curious if anyone here wouldn’t mind sharing their trusted sources. The most pressing needs are currently a foundation specialist (some exterior grade work is needed), plumber, electrician, and garage contractor (the garage is below grade and shows signs of moisture entering from the exterior). Any help that I can pass along for this client would be appreciated. Thank you.
Erik, if you don’t know the vendor/contractor, or their work, why would you recommend them to someone? You’re putting a lot of faith into a blind referral source.
Keeps it at arms length, have them get referrals from their agent, for example, until (and if) you develop your own list.
We all want to help, but sometimes we just can’t answer everything.

Especially when you would typically be referring a ‘Business’ versus one single person in particular.
Turnover is high in most trades, and one never knows the quality of the person that will actually be showing up.
On the rare occasion that I oblige the request, I make sure to explain this to them, and that I take ZERO responsibility if they have a less than stellar experience!!.
LA is also huge.
Most guys I know only work a small local area. They have no reason to drive across town and fight traffic when they have enough business within a few miles of them.
Which makes recommended even guys I know tough.
