Roof Inspection Camera with Pole

Did you find any roof defects with the 360 camera?

The Ferret Plus that I got off Inspector Outlet is multi-use camera that can be used for the roof, although, I don’t like the image quality and prefer my drone when the roof is inaccessible. This one even has a non-contact voltage tester. I haven’t needed it yet…still waiting for that special occasion
They may make a borescope type but I haven’t seen one. This is the one I got on Inspector Outlet. I have a 35’ pole that I can mount this on.

No.

In general, I don’t find many roof defects because FL insurance companies have pretty much made sure all roofs are 15YO or newer.

I also don’t rely exclusively on the camera. If I can’t get on the roof, I’ll get on a ladder, feel it, see if it’s adhered, see how the granules are, etc. Then I’ll do a full walk-around with the camera. You can watch on the phone as you go, and review later when assembling report.

For what it’s worth, the latest version The insta 360 x4 is an 8k camera. I might have to buy that one for giggles. When you watch the video above, note, you need to change the resolution on Youtube to max to get a decent picture.

I use a GoPro camera my daughter gave me (she upgraded to a newer GPro) and a painters pole with a paint roller adapter.
It is a Hero 4 model I think and I use it in video mode and then extract the stills I want.

Why doesn’t everybody use the new new, fantastic, nuthin’ better fake
inspection glasses.

I use a gopro I mounted to a paint roller handle with a 1/4x20 bolt. I can not help with the ferret camera. Docapole is good but can be quite heavy to manage at high roofs. Honestly due to that reason I hardly ever use. Everybody’s situation and needs are different but for me it is boots on roof when ever possible and drone for when I can’t.

Thank you for your feedback!

I came here to find this answer. Thanks, I am prepping to complete my mock inspections.

I use a Go Pro with it. Much better resolution and quality than the Ferret. Last I saw my Ferret cam, it was rolling around in the spare tire well.

I’m upgrading and have my GoPro and docapole with tripod mount , much better resolution…

I prefer using a drone. I have my FAA 107 pilot certificate. I shoot in RAW format so I can zoom close enough to see details. I also use my thermal camera in the attic for further detail. I tried the pole but it becomes difficult to control when extended. I can get my drone within 5’ of the surface or flashings.
